One year in: Calgary Police Service Chief Katie McLellan on public safety, trust and what comes next for Calgary
Chief Katie McLellan brings nearly four decades of experience in policing and public safety, shaped by leadership roles across frontline operations, professional standards, and strategic oversight within the Calgary Police Service, as well as time in the private sector and with the RCMP. Her career has been defined by a deep commitment to the belief that lasting public safety is built through strong partnerships between police, social agencies, and the communities they serve.
Now one year into her tenure, Chief McLellan will reflect on the evolving landscape of public safety in Calgary—exploring the challenges facing the city, the importance of community partnerships and what comes next for policing in a rapidly changing environment. Join us for a timely conversation on leadership, community safety, and the path forward for Calgary.
Date: Wednesday, May 20
Time: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ranchmen's Club 710 13 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2R 0K9
Canada’s Arctic Future Runs Through Alberta
Canada’s Arctic is moving from the margins to the centre of the country’s economic and strategic agenda, and Alberta has a critical role to play in what comes next. From critical minerals and energy development to supply chains and nation-building corridors, Northern projects depend on Western capacity, investment, and expertise to move forward.
In this fireside chat with Canada West Foundation President and CEO Hon. Gary Mar, Northwest Territories Premier R.J. Simpson will discuss what’s at stake as Canada looks North: unlocking resources, strengthening economic security, and building the infrastructure needed to compete globally. The conversation will explore how closer alignment between Alberta and the Northwest Territories can accelerate projects, attract investment, and deliver tangible results for Canadians.
Join us for a conversation on what’s at stake in the North and why it matters for Alberta, for Canada, and what comes next.
