The Canadian Club of Calgary is now able to reduce the price of your luncheon name tags from $15 to $10 effective immediately thanks to some legwork from your board and a new supplier. Custom nametags are available to order at each luncheon or through our website at http://canadianclubcalgary.ca/renew-your-membership/
Your Board of Directors passed a motion to clarify that your membership is valid for 365 days after your renewal date. Your renewal date is established by the date you first joined the Canadian Club. Namely, if you first joined our club on September 1, your paid membership is valid until September 1 of the following year.
The Canadian Club is required to charge GST on memberships and have recently updated the website to reflect this price correction. Your total membership price for a standard membership is $52.50 including GST. Thanks go out to many long-term and new members who’ve recently paid for their annual membership. We now have 124 members of the Canadian Club. We also reduced prices for student memberships and for couples. You may renew your membership online at http://canadianclubcalgary.ca/renew-your-membership/ or mail your cheque to:

You may have noticed our new photographers at the last two luncheons. Jodi and Robert and working hard to ensure we have a visual record of our events which enhances our ability to communicate effectively with members on social media and through our website. New photos are available at http://canadianclubcalgary.ca/photos/ and we are looking at ways to make more photos available to our members who attend our luncheons.
We’ve already sold more than 50 tickets for a speech by Michelle Rempel, MP on April 21. These tickets are going fast. We’ll be joined in May by Alberta’s Lieutenant Governor, Lois Mitchell and in June by Brian Burke of the Calgary Flames. Tickets for both events will go on sale shortly. Look for future issues of the newsletter where we’ll be announcing our speakers for the September to December luncheons
Ken LaPointe on St. Patrick’s Day
Thirty five members and guests attended the March Canadian Club luncheon with historian Ken LaPointe. Ken spoke about Calgary’s French connection, Rouleauville. Members enjoyed Ken’s well developed power point presentation underpinned by extensive historical research including photos, first person accounts of the founding of our city, and original records. Ken brought to life early agreements between First Nations and Rouleauville’s founders, the life of Calgary’s first leaders and the founding of a frontier town named Calgary. Members and guests also enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day together thanks to the unique voice of Richard Hehr who entertained everyone prior to the official presentation. This luncheon was a fitting compliment to the dedicated work of our History and Heritage Committee Chairperson, Suzanne de Courville Nicol who was kind enough to invite our guest speaker and bring many guests to the afternoon speech.
PLEASE JOIN US ON APRIL 21, 2017 WHEN THE CANADIAN CLUB OF CALGARY IS PLEASED TO PRESENT MICHELLE REMPEL, PC, MP. WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!
